Explorer Scouts Oxford

Amadeus Explorers

Thursdays 8.00pm - 9.30pm

What are Explorers?

Explorer Scouts is the final youth section of the Scout Association and contain boys and girls between 14 and 18 years old. The Amadeus Explorer unit is part of the Oxford Spires district and meet at the 10th Oxford Scout hut in Marston on Thursdays.

Explorers have the chance to take the lead on running their own programme of events and have the opportunity to go on international camps and Jamborees.

Explorer Scouts can also take part in the Young Leader training scheme to give back to the group and assist with the running of activities with the younger sections of the Scout movement. This provides opportunities in gaining leadership, teamwork and organisational skills.

Explorers can work through the final two Chief Scout awards - diamond and platinum. The highest award that Explorers can earn is the Queen's Scout award which is closely linked to the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

A list of all the available badges that can be earned at Scouts can be found here.
